Juliet glanced to the left behind her. Yep, there was a shit eating grin on her husband’s face. Ares was in the zone. She looked to the right. Athena had an eerie glow around her. Things were reaching a boiling point. There wasn’t going to be a battle. There was about to be a war.

They couldn’t get thrown out without knowing more about the strange fellow at the bar. The commotion was spooking him. He tossed his cigarette on the floor then turned for the door.

Deidre was standing tall against the mortal wall separating them from their target. Juliet had a split second to make a decision. She called on the power she held. Vampire? Nymph? Either would work.

Maybe the vamp would be more intimidating. She closed her eyes and felt her body fade away. She fought to make it a fast switch. Lingering around and disappearing like a spirit would bring up more questions they didn’t need.

She tried to ignore the confrontation happening on the other end of the bar as she rematerialized in front of the fleeing suspect. A few people around them stumbled away at the sight of someone popping out of nowhere. “Hey there.”

The man didn’t say a word to her. Instead, he held a hand out towards her belly. There were a few flames before the sensation of an electric shock flooded her body. The pain was crippling. She closed her eyes and lurched forward. She didn’t know what she was reaching for. Her fingers brushed a piece of paper. It could have been from a nearby table or his pocket. It was difficult to tell through the agony.

She heard the glass door slam shut as her senses returned to her. Yep, there was the sound of a bar fight. It took a moment for her vision to clear. Every member of the family was in the brawl. Even Aunt Dee was throwing haymakers at the other patrons at the bar.

They might not act like a motorcycle club, but they could fight one without a doubt.

Juliet was stunned when the first one to reach her was Ares. “Are you okay?”

“Hardly, she gasped.

“Let’s go.” He knelt down to scoop her legs across his arm. He cradled her in his arms as he hurried them outside to the waiting bikes.

  1. That's quite the trick. Hope what she got was worth the pain since he escaped anyway. Great scene.

  2. I love seeing their powers and am so sorry for the electric shock that gave her such pain. I'm glad they always have each other's back. What was that electric shock anyway and who gave it?
