Tuesday Tales - Scary

Deidre rolled her eyes and clamped her hands to her hips as she heard first the punch then the groan from the god of war. Juliet bent over to scoop the coat then rejoined the group beside Demeter. The god and demigod followed close behind her.

Ares clench an arm across his belly as he glared at his wife. “You know you’re scary, right?”

“Humph,” is all Juliet responded with.

Deidre scowled at the three of them. “You finished?”

Mack offered an apologetic smile. “Sorry about that. Go ahead.”

“There’s one thing we haven’t covered yet. To be a motorcycle club, we all have to be able to ride one. While some of the ladies just need to know how to ride, we’d be better off if we were all experienced in operating one.”

The entire group fell silent. Deirdre’s heart fell. “Don’t tell me you don’t know how to ride.”

“Some of us do,” Poseidon defended.

“Show of hands who can.”

There were fewer hands than Deirdre liked. She sighed as she turned to look at Apollo. “Can you think of where we can go to practice?”

“Aunt Hestia has some backroads where we can practice. I can’t say she will be excited to have all of us descend on her at once.”

“Give me a second or two to talk to my sister.” Demeter scooped a twin on each hip. A moment later she was gone.

Khalil looked at Freddy. “She didn’t trust you with your son and daughter?”

Freddy grinned at him. “She’s using them to barter. Hestia is more likely to agree if she gets to play with all the babies.”

“Considering we’re about to go to war, she might get to spend more time with the kids than she realizes,” Poseidon interjected.

War. The truth hit Deirdre like a freight train. They were about to head into battle once again. Was this what her life was like now? “Let’s go, everyone. Demeter has had enough time.”

Like stars disappearing at dawn, each member of the family disappeared one at a time. Deirdre took one last look around the empty bar before she took Apollo’s outstretched hand. She glanced at her two lovers before they vanished with her.

Tuesday Tales - Curly

Poseidon stuck two fingers in his mouth and let out a sharp whistle to get the room’s attention. Deirdre turned to him and nodded. “Thank you.”

“Anytime,” he returned.

She scanned those in front of her. Their gazes were finally back on her. She sucked in a breath and continued. “One advantage to forming a motorcycle gang to find Artemis is that we can construct our own rules within our group. While many groups share the same traits, the actual governance is determined by the members.”

Ares chuckled. “Then why are we here? This doesn’t seem like a big deal.”

Deirdre focused on him. “Because the first law is loyalty. Each person who belongs to a gang must swear loyalty to get in. If someone strays from that oath, they will be dealt with severely, maybe even murdered. You all? Loyalty is a foreign concept to you.”

Demeter took a few steps toward the front of the group. Deidre was thankful. The goddess of the harvest was smaller than the men and it was difficult to see her among the other gods. “With the addition of all to our family, I’d like to think we are better with that. You have made us closer to each other. You’ve reminded us what love is and how we feel that toward each other.”

Deirdre gave her a smile. “And for that, Aunt Dee, I am grateful.”

Ares brushed aside Juliet’s black curly locks as he took in the back of her jacket. “Yeah, I can get behind this whole club thing.”

Juliet scowled more to the family than her husband. “Why are you suddenly a fan?”

“You didn’t see the back of your jacket?”

“Can’t say that I did.” She slipped the coat off her shoulders then whipped it around to read it. She snarled at Ares as she tossed it on the ground and stalked after him. “I am no one’s property.”

Ares pointed at the jacket. “That patch says otherwise.” He scuttled away from her. That was until her stumbled into Mack. The werewolf-turned-demigod grabbed a hold of the god of war’s shoulders to give Juliet a better shot at decking him.

Tuesday Tales - Icy

Welcome to Tuesday Tales! This week we are with the Gods of DC and the word prompt is "icy".

She gave into temptation and pressed her mouth against his. With everything that had happened with Artemis, he had been anxious and distracted. His affection had been non-existent. Deirdre understood. She only had a brother for a short while but if anything ever happened to Freddy, she would burn the world to the ground then collapse in the ashes.

Feeling him melt into their kiss for one brief moment made her heart skip a beat.

As they parted, Apollo grinned at her. “We better get out there before Khalil comes looking. You know how jealous he gets if he thinks we’re canoodling without him.”

She cocked an eyebrow at him. “Canoodling? Is that what we do?”

“Right now, yeah. The other stuff is more fun with him involved. Let’s go.”

He took her hand and led her out into the club. She laced her fingers between him to draw him closer. At this moment, she would take anything he would give her. She missed him.

The rest of their makeshift gang surrounded the bar. A few were nursing an icy beer as they chatted with each other. Others were admiring their new wardrobe. It was a definite change from the chitons and robes they used to wear on Olympus. As far as Deirdre was concerned, they looked far better in leather than linen.

She let go of Apollo then cleared her throat. “Listen up,” she greeted. “There’s a lot to cover in a short amount of time.
