Tuesday Tales - Sweet

Welcome to Tuesday Tales! This week we are with the Gods of DC and the word prompt is "sweet".

Deidre glanced over her shoulder to take in the full image on the back of her jacket. She had to admit, it looked pretty sweet. They left the design of the patch to Hades and the god of the underworld did not disappoint. The three headed dog gave off sinister vibes.

Only the family knew that it was a portrait of his beloved pet. Cerebra apparently was their gang’s mascot.

The sound of low chatter wound down the corridor to Ares’s office. She sighed. One wrong move and something worse than annihilation would happen to the family. They would be exposed for who they really were. The mortal realm couldn’t handle that news.

She was distracted by her image enough that she didn’t know that she wasn’t alone anymore. A strong pair of arms wrapped around her and held her tight.

She spun back to find herself in Apollo’s embrace. His golden hair was the typical scruffy mess that she adored. His deep sea blue eyes were so sad it shattered her heart.

“Hey, beautiful,” he greeted.

“Hey, handsome,” she returned. She looked out into the hallway. “Where’s Khalil?”

“He’s strutting around the club like he owns the place. He loves the jacket.”

She laughed a little. “I’m glad.” She studied the god before her. “You’re looking pretty sexy yourself in yours.”

“Thanks.” He pressed his lips together for a moment. It made Deirdre want to kiss him. “Thank you for helping us find my sister. You have no idea what it means to me.”

“Like I said, Apollo, anything for you. I love you and Khalil with everything I’m made of. Luv, I can’t guarantee it will work. No offense, but your family can be a little much.”

Apollo chuckled. “You don’t have to tell me. I’ve been dealing with them for an eternity. Juliet, Mac and Freddy make a difference. They’ve changed them for good just like you and Khalil have changed me. I really think we can do this. I think we can find Artemis.”

Tuesday Tales - Silly

Welcome to Tuesday Tales! This week we are with the Gods of DC and the word prompt is "silly".

She sat up suddenly but sprawled back to where she had been when she heard him stir. She couldn’t push the thought from her head. He was thinking of her? Why would he be? Was it because she was his captive? Was it something more?

She rolled her eyes as she huffed. She was being silly. Men never affected her. She was one of the Vestal Virgins. She took her vows seriously. Just because Athena strayed from her promises and married some mutt, that didn’t mean she should throw that aside.

She chided herself. She shouldn’t have called Mack a mutt. She liked the werewolf-turned-demigod-barely and was happy for him and the goddess of wisdom and war. Was it something she would do?

Would she give her heart to a man?

She tried once. It was the one time she was unforgivably pissed at Apollo. He got jealous. He led her astray. His deception caused her to kill the man she loved.

And now he floated above her in the stars.

Would he be jealous of Michael?

She shook her head. She was putting the cart before the horse. Maybe she should deal with a bigger question.

How was she going to get out of here without her power? And better yet, where was she?

She pressed her lips into a tight, thin line as she concentrated on the space around her. The walls were solid rock. It reminded her of Ares’ cave in the Middle East. She held her breath as she focused her hearing. Michael snored softly. She could hear the rumble of motors and voices. There was one thing she missed that could be sensed at her half brother’s home.

There were no mortars. She may be in a desert. She wasn’t in a war zone.

Her captors rode motorcycles and spoke fluent English. By their dress, they belonged to a gang. She didn’t doubt that there were organized gangs in other parts of the world. However, all these facts pointed to one specific part of the planet.

She was in the southwest corner of the United States.

The good news? Most of her family was based in this country.

The bad news? It still didn’t answer how she was going to escape.

Tuesday Tales - Foolish

Welcome to Tuesday Tales! This week we are with the Gods of DC and the word prompt is "foolish".

Athena would rather stare at the brick wall than that horse’s ass.

She bit at her lip. She hoped he didn’t notice. She rolled her eyes at the chuckle behind her. He did.

She lied to him when she said she only noticed his thoughts because he was the nearest to her. She sure as Hades couldn’t tell him the truth. When she was alone or with one of those hideous devils, she felt to see how far away he was. Her heart felt empty when he was gone.

She tried to stay away from his mind, to leave his memories as a sacred space belonging to him alone. She wasn’t the type of goddess that mingled in mortal’s heads for amusement. The less she had to do with humans, the better. What they did to her wildlife was appalling.

However, he wasn’t a typical man. And he was doing something to her that she hadn’t felt in centuries, not since Orion.

And those wings. Wowzers.

Seeing his soul was like ambrosia to her. It was intimate. It was foolish. It was going to get her killed.

She let go a soft sigh to herself. Good. Michael missed that one.

The woman he gave up perfection for was perfection herself. Her blonde hair was woven gold. Her skin was soft and supple. She was so beautiful,  artists in Artemis’s day would have gone to war with each other to sculpt her.

Why would Michael choose a moody, temperamental goddess with an attitude over someone as gorgeous as her?

It was simple. He wouldn’t. She felt her heart sink a little.

There was a scuffle behind her then a soft moan. She closed her eyes, giving into temptation. It didn’t take much to reach inside of him but things were already getting muddled. She saw the other woman briefly. Then there was a patch with a snake on it. That was odd.

Then, before he fell into a deep, dark slumber thrrr was one more image in his mind.

Her. The goddess Artemis.
