Tuesday Tales - Strong

Poseidon chuckled then swept his arm in a grand gesture towards the direction the others had gone. “I’m sure you have. Should we follow the rest of the family?”

“I suppose we’d better.”

The two siblings strode down the hall until they reached the great hall. The room was over two stories with banister-lined walkways above. Plush, antique, mismatched furniture was scattered around the place where a pair of thrones would have sat. A large area was left open in the center.

This was once the spot where a lord or lady, or maybe even a king or queen, sat to rule their land. What did Hestia use it for now? Ballroom dancing?

“You are correct, little sister,” Hestia replied.

Demeter’s gaze shot up to meet Hestia’s. The older goddess gave her a mischievous smirk in response.

“You have to stop reading my thoughts,” Demeter chided.

“Me reading my brothers’ and sisters’ thoughts have prevented some major disasters.” She cooed at the little boy in her arms. “You are such a strong little man, aren’t you?”

“That reminds me,” Demeter interrupted. “Can you watch Shemus and Olympia? This mission is too dangerous to take a couple of children on.”

Hestia stared at her sister for a long, hard moment. Then she glanced at the others around the room. “I suppose the rest of you need me to babysit you little ones also?”

“If you don’t mind,” Juliet answered. “I know it’s a lot to ask to take on five kids all under the age of four all at once. They’re all at least semi-deities on top of that.”

Hestia smiled at her. “It’s no imposition. The nymphs love to help me. I think they hope to raise these children better than their parents turned out.”

Poseidon cleared his throat. “We have the same folks, Hestia.”

“That’s true. But you can’t blame me for who the next generation turned out. I’m a vestal virgin. I have no offspring.”
