Tuesday Tales - Meet

Welcome to Tuesday Tales!

This week we are with the Gods of DC and the word prompt is “meet”.

Demeter noticed her husband shift beside her. She had been with Freddy to know that the conversation was making him uncomfortable. “We really appreciate it, Aunt Hestia.”

She gave him a smirk. “I’m not your aunt, you know. You married my sister.”

“I know…I mean…”

His stammering was cut off by the slam of a door. Bootsteps on a stone floor echoed off the walls.

Moments later, Hades stood at the door. It was true. He looked like a weekend warrior that spent most of his life behind a CEO’s desk. The way his face twisted made it evident he wasn’t happy with his new attire.

“I told my minions to meet me here with any updates that they have. And there’s nothing I can do with these clothes.” He tugged viciously at his leather vest.

“So, you’re finally joining the others,” Hestia commented. “Where is your lovely bride?”

Demeter bristled. Hestia may have been Persephone’s aunt, but Demeter was her mother. And Seph was pregnant. Her place was in the Underworld. She was safe there.

Demeter frowned to herself. Did she just say that?

Hades rubbed his brow with a growl. “Good to see you too, Sis. Are we all done gossiping? We need to get this mission started.”

“Are the bikes here?” Freddy questioned.

Hades lifted his head then flicked his hand. “They are now.”

“Then let’s get going.” Deirdre broke her silence. The demon strode through the family and past Hades towards the front door.

“That’s my sister,” Freddy muttered. Demeter could hear the pride even though he was grumbling. She watched the rest of the family file outside. She stayed put.

She needed to have a word with her sister.

As the front door closed, she spun slowly towards Hestia. “What is up with you? You aren’t like this.”

  1. I so enjoy these modern adventures of the Gods of Olympus. You capture their personalities so well, and this week is no different. I can sense Hades's frustration, but that line from Demeter accepting that Seph's place was in the underworld and that she would be safe there was ironic and an excellent twist on the classic myth. Well done.

  2. I'm glad she's safe in the Underworld. Love the ending sally and can't wait to find out what the answer to her sister is! Interesting that it was noticed. Great line-- Bootsteps on a stone floor echoed off the walls.

  3. Love that he thinks he looks like a weekend warrior and doesn't like the clothes. Glad Persephone is safe!

  4. Love the way you show Hades frustration with the way he tugs at his uncomfortable clothes. And I can hear those boots, the way you describe them. This is some family!! Wow, what a TV show this would be, "All in the Family of the Gods!" Great job!
