Tuesday Tales - Wood

Welcome to the new home of my blog! I wasn't very pleased with the way my website blog worked so I will be posting my Tuesday Tales and any other random thoughts that I have here.

This week we are with the Gods of DC and the word prompt is "wood". Be sure to check out the other Tuesday Tales by clicking here!

Michael fought back a small smile. It broke through anyway. The goddess stretched out across the wood bench. Go figure that she would be resourceful and tough enough to use it as a bed. Her knees were bent in order to lay her feet flat on the surface as well. One arm draped across her eyes as the other laid across her belly.

He had to admit it to himself, she was easy on the eyes.

“I know you’re there,” Artemis blurted out, not moving from where she lay.

“You heard me come in,” he replied.

“Along with other things. Dude, I’m a goddess, remember? Omniscient power.”

Oh shit.

He let go an audible huff. “So you know my thoughts, huh? Invasion of privacy much?”

Artemis dropped the limb over her eyes then sat up. “No, I’m not taking a little walk in your head. It’s like listening to a conversation. A lot of conversations.” Her words were sharp and short, emphasizing what she meant. The eye roll helped get her point across.

His brow furrowed as he leaned against the stone wall surrounding her cell. He had no idea why but for some reason, what she said intrigued him. “Just one conversation? Do you pick and choose like eavesdropping?”

“All of them at once.”

“That has to be hell.”

“At first, when I was young and coming into my power. Now I know how to pick which ones are important for me to hear and what is another deity’s problem.”

He cocked a smile at her. “I’m flattered that I’m important to you.”

She responded with a smirk of her own. “You’re the only one in the room. The rest is a dull buzz.”

  4. This was interesting - her take on the conversations in his head she could hear and how she focuses on the one that's important to her. Great snippet!
